Simply Invoices is an invoicing application designed to work with Basecamp. Users can sign into Simply Invoices and supply their Basecamp login details to begin. The user enters the client information and selects their desired Basecamp project and professional who worked on the project. After entering the per hour rate, the user can add a time range and select a specific style. After clicking create, the user’s invoice is generated. The system calculates dollar amounts and allows the user to download the invoice as a PDF to send to a client. The user can later return and mark the invoice as paid. Simply Invoices gives users an easy, convenient way to seamlessly invoice clients for their Basecamp projects.
Simply Invoices was created in 2007 by Roobasoft, LLC. Roobasoft consists of one team member designing applications that they feel passionate about. Brian, the application’s creator, understood the importance of an easy invoicing system after personal experience as a contractor working with Basecamp. At the time, other invoicing applications did not have Basecamp integration while others made the process too complex. To fill his own need and that of other Basecamp users, Brian came up with the concept behind Simply Invoices.
There are numerous invoice applications available. However only Simply Invoices integrates seamlessly with Basecamp. For some users this is a huge plus. Those who have used Basecamp may love the idea of having an easy way to build an invoice that looks professional and includes all necessary information without spending a great deal of time creating it.
The Simply Invoices website uses a gentle green and white color scheme. The green and black logo is accented by a clock and arrow image that gives the site character. The actual tools are very easy to use. After logging in and providing Basecamp login details, the user can quickly select a client, project and professional that worked on the project. A few easy to find fields must be filled out, including hourly rate and time being billed for. After that, the user only has to generate the invoice to access the downloadable PDF version that can be sent to the client. The site and invoice generation form are very user friendly.
A new user can sign up for a Simply Invoices account by clicking on the black and grey “Register” tab dangling from the top of the homepage. The user must first select one of four membership plans. After clicking the corresponding “Sign Up” button, the user is asked for a login name, email address, and password. A newsletter opt in check box is automatically checked and can be manually unchecked if the user prefers to opt out. The bottom of the page asks who the user is sending invoices as, asking for a name, phone number and address. The user is then asked to enter their Basecamp login details to begin using Simply Invoices.
Simply Invoices provides users with four membership options. The first is a free account (called No. 1) which allows up to five invoice templates. The free account also includes SSL support, unlimited invoice creation, and will include Simply Invoices branding. The No. 2 plan runs just under $10 per month and removes Simply Invoices branding, allowing the user to add their own. This plan also includes up to ten templates. The No. 3 plan costs around $15 per month and offers the same benefits with up to 20 templates while the No. 4 plan upgrades to unlimited templates for about $25 per month.
Simply Invoices is intended for professionals who use Basecamp to manage projects. The site helps streamline the invoice creation process by allowing users to supply their Basecamp login details so information can be pulled directly from the site.
